![]() ![]() I don't remember The Square on an elevation so I StreetViewed Main Truman. I recall at about the time of incorporation both Kansas City and Independence both emphatically said "We don't want it." I was not aware that Blue Summit fell apart, chuckle. There is some type of tower located at that elevation. The highest point in Jackson County appears to be 1,100 feet in south Kansas City just south of Mo 150 and just west of Lee's Summit city limits. Also seems that Main goes uphill slightly from Truman and Main. I am thinking the courthouse might be the highest elevation. Independence is supposed to have an official elevation of 1,033 feet although there is no location noted. ![]() This got me to thinking where the highest point was in Jackson County. It was incorporated for a while in the late 60's but didn't last long. I use the term "metro" because at that point, it is Jackson county Missouri, a community called Inner city, dog patch, or Blue Summit. If you are standing on the stone arch bridge on Blue Ridge Blvd at Truman road you will be standing on the highest point in the metro. From there you can easily see the buildings of downtown KC to the west and one can see past the Independence Power & Light smokestack, which is close to Blue Springs. Where is the highest elevation point in Kansas City, MO?įor the KC Metro Area, the intersection of Truman Rd and Main Street in Independence, MO may very well the highest place. ![]()
